Manasha Garcia has had a passion for painting and drawing from a very young age. She studied art at Oxford University, and obtained a bachelor's degree in humanities at Shimer College in Mount Carroll, Illinois. In 1978, she met musician and fellow artist Jerry Garcia. She married Jerry in 1990, and two years later he dedicated his book, “J. Garcia: Paintings, Drawings, and Sketches,” to her. Manasha Garcia worked with Jerry on art and music, and also produced recordings of Melvin Seals, who played keyboards with Jerry's band.
Since 2013, she has created art to be displayed at a gallery in Berkeley, California. She specializes in watercolor and mixed media, and has created signature artwork titled Winter Rose, Angels Sing, Angel Dream, and Dawn at the Lake. In addition to displaying her and her late husband's art, the gallery features work from guest artists Roberta Weir and Keelin Garcia. Roberta founded the gallery in 1987.
She is also the co-founder of the Jerry Garcia Foundation, and serves on the advisory board of the Guitar Center Foundation. Her hobbies include organic gardening and traveling.
